Photos from this road trip (and others) were taken with a phone and a DSLR. On this particular road trip I experimented with HDR.

Day 1

Drove to Easton, WA

Started late. Stopped in Bellingham, WA to get more camping supplies. Passed by Snoqualmie Pass, WA (good skiing) along the way. Camped overnight at Lake Easton State Park.

Day 2

Drove to St. Regis, MT

A short run before leaving Lake Easton State Park.

Camped overnight at National Forest’s Sloway Campground in St. Regis, MT.

Day 3

Drove to Livingston, MT

A short run before leaving National Forest’s Sloway Campground.

Along the way between St. Regis and Livingston, MT.

Camped overnight at National Forest’s Pine Creek Campground in Livingston, MT.

Day 4

Drove to Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area (Wyoming side).

Didn’t run before leaving National Forest’s Pine Creek Campground because of a bear sighting. Packed up the truck without going outside and left the campground.

Arrived at the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area visitor center. Then drove from the south entrance to the northern border of the south side of the park.

Camped overnight at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area’s Horseshoe Bend Campground.

Day 5

Drove to Ranchester, WY.

Woke up early to take some sunrise photos at Horseshoe Bend Campground before doing some hikes at Bighorn Canyon National Recreational Area.

Day 6

Drove to Devils Tower National Monument.

Arrived at Devils Tower National Monument. Got a campsite at their Belle Fourche River Campground. Then went on a trail run to scot out the area. First trail: Red Beds Trail.

Day 7

Devils Tower National Monument.

Didn’t wake up early enough for good sunrise photos. Then the clouds came in. So, I hung around Belle Fourche River Campground before going out for a hike.

Had an early dinner and then went out to “chase” the sunset. Drove to a dead-end road north of Joyner Ridge Trailhead.

Day 8

Drove to Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Woke up early for some sunrise photos at Belle Fourche River Campsite before heading to Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Arrived at Mount Rushmore National Memorial after find a campground in Black Hills National Forest.

Camped overnight at Horsethief Lake Campground, Black Hills National Forest, Hill City, SD.

Day 9

Afternoon Trail Run from Horsethief Lake Campground (Horsethief Lake Horsethief Trail Centennial Trail Horsethief Trail Horsethief Lake), Black Hills National Forest, Hill City, SD.

Day 10

Drove to Custer State Park, SD and Badlands National Park.

A scenic drive through Needles Highway of Custer State Park, SD. There are a few narrow tunnels along the way. The narrowest is only 8 feet (2.44 metres) wide. The shortest is a mere 9 feet 8 inches (2.95 metres).

Was hoping for some nice sunrise photos. Unfortunately it was a cloudy morning.

Arrived at Badlands National Park. Found a campsite at Cedar Pass Campground. Had dinner and then wandered a bit.

Day 11

Drove to Sioux Falls, SD.

Very tired on this drive. Maybe there isn’t much interesting things to see.
